My blog has moved. Well, it has done more than move, it has changed. I decided that since I'm not Katie Haycock anymore, my blog should probably change too. Plus, Moose was feeling a little left out of the whole blog thing, so we have a new blog - check it out!!!

It will be funny in a few months, but for now........grrr
This is what we woke up to on Friday morning:

So annoying. We didn't even have cool tires or rims on the truck - just stock. It was parked (I should say it IS parked, since it's not going anywhere) right in front of our house. To further annoy us, the insurance adjuster can't come out to look at it until Monday, so we have to look like the trashy people in the neighborhood who leave cars in the yard on cinder blocks. Then, once the adjuster comes to look at it, we have to pay a $500 deductible before the insurance will pay to replace anything. Then, since we can't have it towed anywhere, we have to go someplace, buy the rims and tires, have the tires put on the rims, bring them back to our house, put them on ourselves, and THEN go to a place to get them balaned and adjusted. Why do stupid people steal stuff? GRRRRR.....

Memorial Day
Okay, so my "picture a day" idea bit the dust, but here's an update anyway. Last weekend, for Memorial Day, we went camping with Kyle's parents, his sister Kami, and her roommate Nadia. We went about 2 hours north of Vegas to a place called Cathedral Gorge just outside of the thriving metropolis of Panaca, Nevada. For those of you who MAY not be familiar with Panaca, we were about 90 miles west of Cedar City, UT. Although it rained quite a bit, we still had a great time. The weather was kind enough to cooperate every time that we needed to cook/eat a meal and when we went on a couple small hikes. Other than that, we played a lot of games and stayed close to the campfire. It was really nice to get out of town for a few days and forget about real life. Here are some pictures of our adventure:

In other news, finals start tomorrow, school gets out on Wednesday, I leave for the Grad Night Trip to Disneyland on Thursday, Graduation is on Monday, I have a few days off and then start teaching Summer School! In addition, I'm teaching piano lessons on the side and trying to pick up a few days of substitute teaching at year-round elementary schools during the summer. Life is busy and great!

Papers, papers, papers

Tommorow is my last day of class at UNLV for the semester - HOORAY!!! Actually, it will be my last day at UNLV for a while. I'm not really liking my program and just can't justify so many more student loans for something that I hate and don't really plan on using. Anyhoo, I'm pretty excited to get my life back. I didn't realize how much work 8 credits a semester would be on top of a full time job, but it was really burdensome. Plus not having the dread of going to class in the evening is going to be fabulous. Sadly, before I can be officially done with it, I have 3 more papers to write tonight - BOO! I guess I should go write them instead of wasting more time on the internet................

A picture a day

I've been avoiding blogging because I feel too overwhelmed with writing about everything that's happened since my last post. My solution: don't do it. I'm just going to start fresh. My new resolution is to post at least one picture with a short narrative comment every day. If nothing eventful happened that day, I'll just post an old picture for fun. Today, enjoy a few more of my wedding photos!

Back to Reality

Well, a lot has happened since my last post. In a nutshell, our wedding and honeymoon were fabulous. Everything went perfectly and we were so happy with it all. We also moved into a new house. It's a really great little house and it is so fun to set up with all of our new stuff. We've been so busy over the last 4 weeks that we're not all the way unpacked yet, but we're making good progress. Our internet is hooked up now, so I can get back into the routine of blogging. We don't have all of the pictures of the wedding back yet, but here are a few that we do have. If you were there and you took some pictures, can you please email them to me so that I can have them? Thanks! I'll post more pictures soon!

SPICE up your life

This weekend Ashley and I went to the SPICE GIRLS reunion tour. It was one of the BEST concerts I have ever been to - and I've been to a lot of concerts. They sounded great, looked great, and were highly entertaining. Besides the SPICE GIRLS themselves, the best part of the night is that we were sitting 20 feet away from David Beckham the ENTIRE time!!!! He was in a luxury box right behind us. He sat out on the edge right next to the crowd and we could see him the whole time. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let me take my camera in there, so all I have is this picture of Ashley and I in the car on the way there and this wonderful picture of David Beckham so that you can imagine sitting next to him too.

Long time, no blog.....
Hello Friends! It's true - I'm still alive. It has been quite a while since I've blogged, sorry! Here are some updates on my life:
1. I moved into my own apartment. Because of the move, I no longer have internet at home, and the school firewall doesn't let me use blogger :-(
2. Homecoming came and went and was busy, hectic, and wonderful. I realize that I'm not in high school, but being a student council advisor means that my life revolves around homecoming, a little pathetic, I know.
3. Most of my free time has been consumed by an exciting new relationship. I believe in internet karma, so I won't post any details for now, but hopefully he'll stick around long enough to make the blog soon.
4. My master's program has kicked into high gear, which is why I'm in the UNLV library right now trying to avoid studying.
I know that was really short, but I promise to post again soon. Hope all is well in your lives - let me in on the good gossip!

I got tagged.....
Apparantly "tagging" is very popular in the blogging world. Tiffany and Ava tagged me. Since I like to do what's popular, I am passing the torch to you Charlene, Ashley, Fern, and Kelli.
These are the instructions:
A. List 7 habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag 7 people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag whoever wants to do it.
Where do I start??? There are so many strange things about me.
1. Seeing or hearing someone brush their teeth makes me physically gag. I have tried not to, but it is a physical reaction I cannot control.
2. I don't love animals. The truth is that I'm secretly afraid of them. I just don't have much experience with them. To quote my favorite TV character, Chandler Bing, "Dogs are jumpy, and needy, and you can't tell what they're thinking - and that kind of scares me". Plus, I got bit by a dog a few weeks ago.
3. I LOVE gameshows - especially JEOPARDY. In fact, I TiVo Jeopardy every day.
4. A bat flew up my prom dress. Enough said.
5. My life revolves around Homecoming. Yes, I realize that I am not in high school, but the life of a student council advisor often resembles that of the students.
6. I love painting my toes REALLY bright colors. Right now they are a bright pinkish orange.
7. I once ate a whole box of Hostess cupcakes in one sitting. The best part is that they didn't even belong to me - they were my roommate Ashley's and I forgot to tell her until she noticed they were all gone :-) Sadly, trying to maintain my new smaller size has eliminated Hostess cupcakes from my life. Oh, how I miss them.
What I really want to know is what strange things YOU think of when you think of me. Comment so that I know what my most memorable quirks are!

Hooray for 3 day weekends!
Whew! I needed a 3 day weekend. School started last week and it was exhausting. Everything went very well, but it was super busy. I teach great classes this year and I'm really looking forward to improving upon the things I did well last year.
I did my best to get school things done on Friday so that I could have a relaxing weekend. It has been lovely so far - sleeping in, reading books, scrapbooking, shopping at my favorite stores (Kohl's, Target, and Ross) and hanging out with friends. All in all, I wish every weekend was 3 days long!

I'm a rebel

Alright, I know you're all laughing. Who am I kidding? Me - a rebel, what a joke. Fact: I really am a rebel - a Runnin' Rebel. That's right. Today was my first day of graduate school at UNLV. I'm getting my MEd in PK-12 Educational Leadership. In English that means public school administration. I'm not entirely convinced that I want to become an administrator, but we'll see how it goes.
In other news, school (my day job) starts on Monday. I'm not even close to ready, but I don't think that time will stop moving for me to get ready. Does anyone remember the show "Out of this World"? The one with Evie - the girl who was half human and half alien and when she touched her fingers together everyone else would freeze and she could do whatever she wanted. I want that magic power! Too bad neither of my parents are aliens...................

My Tiger Beat Crush

Yes, it is true. Just like every 13 year old girl in the country, I have a huge crush on Zac Efron. Although I enjoyed his performances in High School Musicals 1 and 2, I did not love him until Hairspray. Have you seen it? If you haven't, you need to. I just bought the soundtrack and am enjoying it thoroughly. I'm sure I'm not the only slightly-too-old -for -him fan............will anyone else admit to this with me?

It's that time of year again............
Can you smell that??? It's the smell of freshly sharpened pencils, new backpacks, shiny new shoes. That's right. School is starting soon! I have mixed feelings about this. While it is VERY sad that my fun summer is ending, I am a geek at heart and really love school. So, it's back to Del Sol.

Back from North Carolina
I'm excited that I can now check North Carolina off of my list of states that I've travelled to. Besides 5 days of work-related conference classes, I had the chance to see and do some fun things. I went to the UNC campus (that's where the conference was), walked around the quaint town of Chapel Hill, ate lunch on the Cape Fear river, see the USS North Carolina battleship, go to the beach in Wilmington, wade in the Atlantic ocean, and survive pre-hurricane rain.

Here are a few pictures of the trip.

North Carolina
I'm going to be in North Carolina for a conference this week and it looks like I'll have a lot of free time. Any suggestions as to what I should do there??????????????
